Serena has practiced as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner for 17 years and has experience in urgent care, safety-net family practice, retail, and geriatric care. She is known for her passion for high quality care and especially in geriatric medicine.

She is a member of GAPNA, Sigma Theta Tau, AANP,  and the National Council of Quality Assurance.  In 2009 she was awarded the Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year award in Family Practice by the Kansas State Nurses Association.

Serena was appointed by Governor Kathleen Sebelius in 2008 to the Kansas State Board of Nursing.  She served 4 years and was co-chair of the APRN committee.  She also served as President of KSBN 2011-12. She has served as Vice President and Registered Lobbyist for the Kansas State Nurses Association.

Serena received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from MidAmerica Nazarene University, her Masters Degree in Nursing from the University of Kansas Medical Center, and is currently finishing her Doctorate of Nurse Practitioner.  She received her Certified Professional of Healthcare Quality certificate in 2014.

Serena currently resides in Olathe, Kansas with her husband, Derek.  They have two teenage daughters, Abigail and Olivia.
